Water:

Water must not be withheld for an extended period prior to play. Ponies must be offered water before leaving the club or ground.

Tempertures:

Under amber Met Office heat warnings, or forecast temperatures of 28 degrees and above, free changes are to be given with a restriction of one minute for the change.

Holding a horse during a mount of a player: Ear or nose twitching.

Ponies must not be ear or nose twitched for a player to mount. Should this be seen by any official than the player of the pony concerned will be issued with a yellow card.

1) The use of a cinch girth is now prohibited.

2) The inside of the ears and the whiskers around the muzzle are not to be shaven.

Tying-up

If a horse is tying-up. Do not walk the horse. This will further damage its muscles.

Try to put the horse in the nearest stable, if necessary with a trailer. Give the horse a blanket and water. Call the vet if the horse sweats excessively or remains very stiff. Do not give painkillers until the vet has seen the horse.

If your horse is prone to becoming tyed-up seek advice from your vet, it can be treated.

Tying-up (spierbevangen)

Als een paard spierbevangen is, laat het paard dan niet lopen. Dit zal de spieren verder beschadigen.

Probeer het paard in de dichtstbijzijnde stal te zetten, eventueel met een aanhanger. Geef het paard een deken en water. Bel de dierenarts als het paard overmatig zweet of erg stijf blijft. Geef geen pijnstillers voordat de dierenarts het paard heeft gezien.

Heeft uw paard dit regelmatig, vraag advies aan uw dierenarts. Er zijn mogelijkheden om dit te voorkomen.

Coughing: coughing a lot, call vet.

Hoesten: veel hoesten bel dierenarts.
